Chinon Bellami HD-1: Retro Super 8 Gun camera

Harking back to the time of the Super 8, this retro camera is from Chinon and old mid 60's Japanese brand many may not have heard off. Kodak took a majority stake in the company in 1997, and made it a fully-owned subsidiary of Kodak Japan, as Kodak Digital Product Center Japan Ltd. in 2004. In 2006, Kodak sold Chinon to Flextronics. The Bellami HD-1 channels vintage Kodak’s Super 8mm cameras from the 60's. The HD-1 features a retro gun camera style body with a 2.1-megapixel MOS sensor, and the capability of shooting in 10, 15, and 30 frames per second.

The camera shoots full 1080p HD video. Also, the HD-1 can reach shutter speeds of up to 1/1000 per second, and is equipped with a removable grip and a D-mount that allows you to interchange different 8mm lenses, giving you the full Super 8 experience but with modern digital performance.

Chinon also manufactures CD-ROM drives, scanners, electronic pocket calculators, and floppy disk drives. They even dabbled in VR with Cybershades for the PC, launched in the US market in 1995 for $199. Sadly, the Bellami HD 1 is only sold in Japan.
