FUJIFILM: New Medium Format camera launching September 19

Rumours of a Medium Format Mirrorless camera by Fujifilm have been floating around for quite some time. After Hasselblad’s expensive X1D was released in June of this year, this will be a more affordable alternative, The new Fujifilm Medium Format Mirrorless camera is expected to be cheaper than Hasselblad’s X1D by about $2,000-$3,000. The Hasselblad X1D is priced at around whopping $9,000, making it impossible choice for most photographers. Recent reports claim the new camera by Fujifilm will be launched on the 19th September. According to Fuji Rumors, the new camera will sport a DSLR form factor and include a 50 Megapixel Sony sensor. It will be launch with 3 lenses [two prime lenses and one zoom lens], a 100-120mm Macro Prime lens, a 50mm Prime lens, and a 20-60 Zoom lens. The new camera is likely to start shipping in 2017.

MEDIUM FORMAT BIGGER THAN FULL FRAME Medium-format cameras have long been in the hands of working pros because of their combination of ease of use and incredible image quality. While large format was always the king of resolution and dynamic range, it is difficult to work with on location and cumbersome. Today, medium format is a little different. Phase One and Hasselblad have both released 100 MP options, allowing for unparalleled image quality. The downfall of these cameras is their price: at well over $20,000, they are difficult for many photographers to justify, even those that do this for a living.
