Russian homemade gun cam
I'm always scouring the net for guncam ideas when I came across this homemade beauty, the creation of a Russian called PROKHOR_111. He put together this 900gms setup primarily from cheap existing camera parts, gun parts and fabricated the rest. He calls it his "Big Gun" rig for his super telephoto lens setup, an AI Nikkor 400 f / 3.5. He too was inspired by the Russian Fotosnaiper. He resorted to this setup after discovering tripods and monopods were not working out for his kind of shooting style. Raiding his neighbourhood shops bore fruit in the form of a polymer Izhmash made Tigr (Dragunov/SVD) sniper rifle buttstock, foregrip and a flash bracket from an unknown Chinese manufacturer. But the build quality was good so he went with it. I do love the shape of the buttstock and its way sleeker looking than the more expensive Bushhawk or Sharpshooter camera mounts. He does mirror my views of how much more comfortable it is to trigger the shutter in a gun like position rather than the traditional way. He used a Chinese Pixel brand shutter trigger he fitted to the Tigr buttstock. You can see the cable extending from the top of the trigger unit to his camera in the pic above. It has a half press function too. He attached a Manfrotto 323 quick release baseplate up to just a few centimeters behind the foregrip. His Nikkor lense collar adaptor is attached to it. To the rear of this rig he drilled in a regular tripod adaptor plate to attach the camera body to complete this simply awesome piece of work. Took me a while to figure out "Tiger" from the Russian to English crap google translate was Tigr as in the gun. The other plus point to his choice of buttstock is the very "ungunlike" in terms of not having a pistol grip or recognisable trigger area like other gun camera mounts.
