Modenas & Kymco Partnership Synergy
This mutually beneficial collaboration offers various synergies for both brands. EMOS will be responsible for the distribution, sales and marketing of Kymco locally. EMOS will distribute the 250i Downtown and 400i Exciting scooters to Malaysia. EMOS is aiming to capture more than 25% of the scooter market share by March 2017. Scooters accounted for 13% of the country’s total industry volume of motorcycle sales of 60,000 units last year.
To reach these targets, EMOS has appointed 30 exclusive dealers throughout Malaysia, including in Sabah and Sarawak, to promote the scooters.
The Elegan line has also been updated with the ALL NEW Modenas Elagan 250i and Karisma 125 with both machines being rebadged Kymco's. And hat will truly get the customers attention is the very competitive and reasonable pricetags of RM12,830 for the Elegan and RM4,980 for the Karisma. The Kymco Downtown 250i is priced at RM21,500. Prices are not inclusive of GST.
Members of the media, guests as well as dealers got to test ride the 3 models that were launched at the event. My favourite in terms of design was the Kymco Downtown 250i but strangely the Elegan 250 that was heavier on paper felt lighter when ridden. I loved how not intrrusive the ABS brakes were on the Downtown and how crisp the brakes were on the Elegan even able to slide the bike safely. Handling was post on for both bikes. The Karisma was really easy to ride and will be a no brainer for people wanting a cheap but very well made and stylish scoot for their daily commute.
